William B. Travis was a colonel in the Battle of the Alamo.

In the Timeless Universe[]

In the original timeline, Travis writes the famous "Victory or Death" letter four days before his death in the Alamo. The letter was then reprinted in newspapers all across the United States. The letter makes the nation remember the Alamo, allows the United States to defeat Santa Anna in weeks, and annex Texas.

In the altered timeline, when Travis is two sentences into the letter, he is visited by Garcia Flynn. Travis was informed that Flynn was a dangerous Mexican sympathizer and attempts to shoot Flynn, but Flynn sabotaged Travis' gun. Flynn shoots Travis dead, to prevent the letter from being written. Lucy Preston, Wyatt Logan, and Rufus Carlin hear the shot and arrive on the scene where Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett have confirmed Travis' death. Lucy is assigned with the task of completing the "Victory or Death" letter. She originally tries to pick up the letter from where Travis left off, but gives up and rips the original letter. Wyatt convinces Lucy that she must write the letter from the heart, and she writes her own version of the letter. Rufus, with the use of Wyatt's grenades, was able to create a hole in the aqueduct to save the women and children of the Alamo. This also allows Lucy's letter to be delivered to General Sam Houston by Travis' messenger, the young boy John William Smith.
