Muddy Waters was first seen at Carrie Thompson's juke joint, with fellow musicians, Son House and Bessie Smith. When Connor Mason approaches them and gushes over them, Smith acts incredulous over what Mason calls her, and House and Muddy Waters play along. She asks him to repeat what he said to her. Mason does, and Smith reveals it was all a joke. Mason proceeds to order drinks for them all. Robert Johnson joins his fellow musicians in drunken merriment. Muddy Waters goes on to witness the Betty's shooting and Johnson record his album at the bar.
